Get answers to common questions about PRP Microneedling.
During treatment, we draw a small blood sample, spin it to concentrate platelets, apply topical numbing, then perform microneedling while applying PRP to the skin. The procedure typically lasts 60–90 minutes and is performed by licensed clinicians.
Most clients report mild discomfort but not significant pain. We apply a topical anesthetic before microneedling to minimize sensation. Aftercare may include redness and tenderness that subsides within a few days; over-the-counter pain relief is usually sufficient.
Most clients benefit from a series of 3–4 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart, though deeper scarring or advanced aging may require additional sessions. Your clinician will tailor a plan based on skin condition and treatment response.
Expect redness, mild swelling, and pinpoint bleeding for 24–72 hours. Most people can resume routine activities within 48 hours, avoiding heavy exercise and sun exposure. Visible improvements develop over weeks as collagen remodels.
Side effects are generally mild—temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or pinpoint bleeding. Infection and scarring are rare when performed by trained professionals using sterile technique. Not recommended for active acne, certain blood disorders, or pregnancy.
Avoid aspirin, NSAIDs, alcohol, and blood-thinning supplements for several days prior. Stop retinoids and harsh exfoliants one week before. Arrive with clean skin and disclose medications and medical history. Follow pre-care instructions provided by Gilluxe Aesthetics.
